The Wu Shu tree...

This Scotts pine that features on many of our website pages stands just below Ashen hill, Priddy. Its just off the edge of the great Stockhill fairy woods. A place of outstounding natural beauty..

All the hills in this area are dotted by ancient burial mounds. This clearly is a place that our ancestors deemed sacred, a place of respect.

Interestingly the soil here is only a few inches deep, the ground you walk on is the same ground that people have walked on for 5 thousand years and more. Walking around these hills does without a doubt, give you a real sense of timeless nature of our historic past.

Priddy nine barrows and the Ashen hill barrows are amongst the oldest in the area. Nestled alongside are the famous priddy circles.. If ancient sacred ground is your thing its well worth a visit.

I always thaught that the mendips are a great place to be learning a martial art, in he eastern traditions its normal to venerate ones ancesters those who walked before us- here in the heart of the mendips its easy to feel close to those who went before especially at Nine barrows where you feel like you are treading the same ground as the ancients and especialy at the burial mounds themselves.
