Thanks to the late Bruce Lee, the world knows about Wing Chun.
You could say Bruce is responsible for Mendip Wing Chun's existence. Thats a fair comment to make. He played a huge part in bringing kung fu, in particular Wing Chun to the eye of the masses back in the 70's.
However in reality, we must look a little deeper than that. Bruce was the pinnacle of perfection, true.
He was coached and mentored by two great masters, Granmaster Ip Man and Grandmaster
Wong Shun Leung. Without these two, Bruce may have never achieved what he did.
So in reference to Mendip Wing Chun's existence, it really came down to these three ledgends.
These three men have given us the people of the world a truly amazing legacy.
Starting somthing new is a good way of shaking off the shackles of stagnation. As human beings we will always look for the short cut, the easy way. However, generally we learn very little within the confines of our comfort bubble.
Some already know this and just cant wait to jump at the challenge. New energies always bring about a new look on life and that cant be bad. So I would like to extend the arms of welcome to all our visitors now and in the future.
Great things begin when you look with your heart.
This Scotts pine that features on many of our website pages stands just below Ashen hill, Priddy. Its just off the edge of the great Stockhill fairy woods. A place of outstounding natural beauty..
All the hills in this area are dotted by ancient burial mounds. This clearly is a place that our ancestors deemed sacred, a place of respect.
Interestingly the soil here is only a few inches deep, the ground you walk on is the same ground that people have walked on for 5 thousand years and more. Walking around these hills does without a doubt, give you a real sense of timeless nature of our historic past.
Priddy nine barrows and the Ashen hill barrows are amongst the oldest in the area. Nestled alongside are the famous priddy circles.. If ancient sacred ground is your thing its well worth a visit.

I've always loved this photo, Wong looks so young, as does Ip Man. Makes you realise just how lucky we are to be associated to two of the greatest Martial artist of all time.
This last couple of months has been a hard slog. Ive had so much to do as reguards to starting this business. New club logo, new website (we have two now), Club listings on countless search engine websites( there are so many).
Ive been asked for a 25 page business plan, complete with data for market research..One things for sure, I now have a good idea how everything works..
On top of all this Ive still managed to train daily, put together intelligent classes for everybody, be a dad for my kids and be a loving partner and best friend for my lovely wife to be....
Ive still got so much to do, printing, organising, staying positive, training and maybe just a bit more training...If only you guys knew, just what I do for you..
Why do it the way you do !!
Learning Wing Chun isn't a process of collecting zillions of new techniques,
Rather its a process of stripping away the unnecessary, so that the true beauty of the art can be revealed.
